After finishing second in the first two legs of the Triple Tiara at Colonial Downs, TimetoShine (FR) delivered when it mattered most. The determined mare won the $100,000 Grade 2 Marion duPont Scott Stakes in a thrilling series finale.
The Triple Tiara at Colonial Downs is a new steeplechase series created specifically for fillies and mares age 4 and older. Presented in partnership with the National Steeplechase Association, Virginia Thoroughbred Association, and Virginia Equine Alliance, the series features three Grade 2 stakes. Each race carries a $100,000 purse and is contested over 2¼ miles over the jumps.
Together, the three races create a season-long championship challenge, giving mares multiple opportunities to demonstrate their consistency, athleticism, and class throughout the summer.
Three Races In Honor of Three Remarkable Women
Each leg of the Triple Tiara honors a woman whose influence helped shape American steeplechasing:
The Theodora A. Randolph Stakes
The Life’s Illusion Stakes
The Marion duPont Scott Stakes
Gold Charm claimed the opening leg in on Monday, July 29, 2026, and Camanoe followed with a victory on Thursday, July 23, 2026. TimetoShine finished second in both races before securing the spotlight in the finale on Thursday, September 3, 2026.
TimetoShine Delivers in the Finale
TimetoShine’s persistence paid off in the Marion duPont Scott Stakes on Thursday, September 3, 2026. Congratulations to winning owner Runnymoore Racing and trainer Mark Beecher, along with jockey Dan Nevin, on a well-earned victory.
Her performance brought the inaugural Triple Tiara to a memorable close and demonstrated exactly what the series was designed to celebrate: talented mares competing at a high level across an entire season.
Honoring Marion duPont Scott’s Legacy
The finale carried special meaning for the Montpelier Hunt Races. Marion duPont Scott bred and trained champions at her Montpelier estate, established the Montpelier Hunt Races, and played an important role in shaping American steeplechasing as we know it today.
Seeing her legacy honored through a major stakes race, and alongside today’s exceptional equine and human athletes, was a proud moment for everyone connected to the Montpelier Hunt Races.
Congratulations again to TimetoShine and the entire team on an outstanding victory.
