If you’ve got it, Flaunt it!  our First Annual Hat Contest was a real Hit!  Toss on your Chapeau and help make it as memorable!  Hat Contest sponsored by Georgetowner Magazine.  No entry fee, just fun, flair and fashion.

Watch this page for more information

And plan on entering our TAILGATE CONTEST!   ( See the form below)Our fun contest acknowledges that many race goers love to really “do up” their tailgate food and presentation.  There is no entry fee, the judging is fun and there are great prizes!  But PLEASE, no grills, no open fires.  the only cooking allowed are the very small camp stove with propane container the size of a thermos. Celebrity judge this year is Chef Jason Alley.  Alley’s Comfort Restaurant in Richmond, opened in 2002, celebrates his passion for the kind of Southern Comfort food you could find in a checkered picnic basket in an idyllic pastoral painting.  His second Restaurant, Pasture is a more refined take on Southern food – he will be opening a Charlottesville Pasture winter, 2012.

2012 Poster Painting

Clarice Smith is described by critics as an intriguing and enigmatic artist. Belonging to no school, yet clearly influenced by several traditions, she creates a world through paint that is at the same time tangible and distant; familiar yet disquieting. Her oeuvre includes portraits, florals, landscapes, still-lifes and horses painted with ease, yet a convincing reality and an ambience unique to a particular place. Both in technique and mood, her paintings share little with the strict photo-realists who are her contemporaries but are rather linked to earlier painters who are her inspiration. She has had numerous solo exhibitions in prestigious galleries in the United States and abroad including an exhibit at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in 2011.  She is represented by the Gerald Peters Gallery in New York City.   See more of her work at www.claricesmith.com
