Poster art for the 2008
This year’s poster art by Artist Evelyn Cowles is shown above. The completed Mansion is shown in the distance. “We wanted to feature the Montpelier Mansion this year as the restoration will be complete by race day. Our view has been of scaffolding or construction for the past few years so this year the view should be pretty spectacular” says Martha Strawther, Executive Director. The Mansion will be open for tours at no cost on race day courtesy of US Trust.

The artist, Evelyn Cowles, is a lifelong animal enthusiast and lives with her husband, Reynolds, on their farm in Free Union, VA.  They raise show and race horses and have a keen interest in fox hunting and hunting dogs. An avid photographer since high school, she has expanded her artistic talents to include painting in oils. Though specializing in sporting art, she has been commissioned to do all types of animal portraits. Her paintings have been featured on the cover of "The Chronicle of the Horse", in Polo Magazine’s 2006 Sporting Art Edition and she was a finalist in the animal category of the 2006 Artist’s Magazine.
